Community Presbyterian & St. Mary's Church Gardens—Big Bay. MI

Community Presbyterian & St. Mary's Church Gardens Two churches across the street from each other created gardens from formerly industrial sites and redeemed the center of a small town 25 miles north c Marquette at the end of the road. Big Bay had 290 inches of snow in the winter of 2008-09, from November into May. The growing season is mid June to Labor Day. Only 70 days! St. Mary's Parish and The Community Presbyterian Church each decided to take the challenge and plan gardens years ago. Rubble had to be removed, soil amended and hardy volunteers were found. Both churches now enjc their gardens after years of work. While each garden is different, both have plantec “Bible” gardens with plants mentioned in the Bible
