Friends of Prospect Park, Ypsilanti:
Renovation of 9-acre Park & Pond
Friends of Prospect Park is a collaboration of four city neighborhood associations: the Ypsilanti Public Schools, as well as Adams Elementary, the YMCA, and the City of Ypsilanti. With over 150 volunteers, the group has adopted the widely used nine acre park and done the following:
- Created and placed new signs o installed 380 cubic yards of mulch as fall protection for the playground area
- Restored an old Victorian pond into a native plant wildflower garden known as Luna Lake o Scheduled weekly litter patrols and maintenance activities
- Hosted a summer day camp. Future projects include painting two pavilions and restoring the basesball field.
