The Michigan Plaque Award:
Grosse Ile Bridge Company&*mdash;Landscaping of Roadway
The Grosse He Bridge Company's (GIBC) two acres of property along the Detroit River at the intersection of Meridian and Bridge Road is the northern gateway to Grosse He. The GIBC decided to beautify the half acre perimeter of the property and enhance road safety by replacing dead trees, undesirable brush and leaning trees with attractive landscaping and plantings that blend well with the woodlands and wetlands in the area. The landscaping project includes natural decorative boulders and earthen berms featuring 13 species of trees, 6 species of shrubs and 6 species of flowers designed to provide year round color.
