Community-Based “Great Tree Hunt”
The Farmington/Farmington Hills Great Tree Hunt was a broad-based community project, initiated by Hank Murawski, focused on raising the community's awareness of the importance of trees. This environmental initiative involved all 7,000 children (K-8) in a contest to locate the biggest and best trees in our cities. The result of this family oriented activity hs been to show the benefit of trees to the environment, to encourage the reforestation of our urban areas and to create a model of a volunteer / school / business project for other communities.
