The President's Plaque Award:
Lakeshore Family YMCA Children's Learning Garden, St. Clair Shores
The YMCA is committed to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. They have shown this commitment by involving all three entities in a educational garden project.
The Children's Learning Garden is the Lakeshore YMCA's response to a nationwide movement of “No Child Left Inside”. By making this garden for pre-K children in the childcare program, it will instill in them an appreciation of the environment and also educate them about the beauty of the outdoors.
Many native Michigan plants have been used in the garden, which is recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.
