The President's Plaque Award:
Midland Blooms
Midland Blooms gives meaning to the word Springtime in Midland. The warm weather comes and goes, but the blooming flowers along Eastman Avenue in Midland leave a lasting impression. In 2008, Midland Blooms celebrated its 20th year, showing off the community to residents and visitors.
This year, 2009, 1,100 flats, or a total of 39,000 “Dream Series” petunias were planted in almost five miles of planting space. Approximately 600 volunteers representing civic clubs, various organizations, businesses, families, neighborhood and student groups, and others from the area made Midland Blooms a genuinely community-wide project.
