KMB 2009 Award Recipients
The Michigan Plaque Award:
Zack Colter, Northville—Video on the Ash Borer Problem
Zachary Colter, a student at Hillside Middle School in Northville entered a contest in the area of Video/Film production sponsored by the National FT A Reflections program. For the 2008-2009 year the program theme was "WOW!" Zach, who is the child of a City Forester, felt the 'WOW7 factor of a tiny bug that could kill large trees would make an excellent public service announcement. He prepared a 42 second PSA which informs and educates the public on how the tiny Emerald Ash Borer kills trees and how moving firewood can give the insects a free ride to expand their devastation. Zach encourages the public to buy firewood locally—Don't Move Firewood! He won “Best of Show“ for the Northville Schools
